Setting up XCIPTV Player on the TiVo Stream 4K

The setup, in order

- Select Add user or Add playlist in XCIPTV Player, choose Xtream Codes, and fill in the three fields from your login message: server URL with its port, username, password.
- Let XCIPTV Player download the channel list and guide (a minute or two the first time), then add your regular channels to favorites.
After you sign in
XCIPTV Player shows a loading bar while it pulls the channel list, then opens on its home screen. Live TV, movies and series appear as separate sections, and the guide fills in over the next minute or two. On the TiVo Stream 4K, the first load is the slowest.
If XCIPTV Player won't cooperate
- "Invalid credentials": retype the server URL with http:// and the port, and check capital letters; the username and password are case-sensitive.
- Picture but no sound: set the TiVo Stream 4K's audio output to stereo or PCM; some soundbars refuse surround passthrough from IPTV feeds.
- Guide off by an hour or more: check the TiVo Stream 4K's time zone first, then the EPG offset in XCIPTV Player.
- Buffering on sports only: run a speed test on the TiVo Stream 4K. Below about 25 Mbps, use the HD version of the channel.
Settings that help on the TiVo Stream 4K
- Use the HDMI extender that came in the box if the port is cramped; it helps Wi-Fi reception and heat.
- An Ethernet adapter is the biggest single upgrade for a stick on weak Wi-Fi.
- Clear the player's cache from the system app settings if the guide starts lagging.
