Setup guide

HushPlay is a paid app; its fee goes to the developer, separately from your IPTV plan. The TiVo Stream 4K decodes 4K, so 4K feeds play at full resolution on a 4K screen. There's no contract and no card on file waiting to be charged again: plans are prepaid, with a 7-day refund window.

Have these ready

  • Your login from WhatsApp: server URL (with port), username and password
  • Unknown apps allowed for Downloader, only if Google Play does not list the app
  • A 25 Mbps line handles one 4K stream comfortably; HD needs roughly 10 Mbps per screen
  • A faster way to type: a USB or Bluetooth keyboard, or the remote app on your phone

Installing HushPlay

  • Pick a plan length, send the order on WhatsApp, and keep the reply open: it holds the server URL, username and password.
  • Search Google Play for HushPlay with the remote or the voice button and install it. Where Play doesn't carry it, Downloader can fetch it from the developer's site once unknown apps are allowed.
  • Choose the Xtream Codes login in HushPlay and enter the server URL (including http:// and the port), the username and the password exactly as sent.
  • Give the first sync a couple of minutes, then hide the groups you never use and favorite the rest.

Settings that help on the TiVo Stream 4K

  • Close apps you are not using; sticks have limited memory.
  • An Ethernet adapter is the biggest single upgrade for a stick on weak Wi-Fi.
  • Clear the player's cache from the system app settings if the guide starts lagging.
  • Buffer: a medium buffer of about 2 to 3 seconds smooths short dips without adding much delay.

The first time you open it

HushPlay shows a loading bar while it pulls the channel list, then opens on its home screen. Live TV, movies and series appear as separate sections, and the guide fills in over the next minute or two. On the TiVo Stream 4K, the first load is the slowest.

Troubleshooting

  • "Invalid credentials": retype the server URL with http:// and the port, and check capital letters; the username and password are case-sensitive.
  • HushPlay closes on its own: clear its cache, restart the TiVo Stream 4K, and reinstall if it keeps happening.
  • Channels but no guide: refresh the EPG in HushPlay's settings, or give it a few minutes after the first sign-in.
  • Buffering on sports only: run a speed test on the TiVo Stream 4K. Below about 25 Mbps, use the HD version of the channel.
